Jewels of Hope originated in October 2004 as a family outreach, but after the first year with a single support group of 11 children it has grown rapidly and extended to other locations.   Currently Jewels of Hope ministers to orphans in South Africa, Lesotho and Zimbabwe using an income generating model using beaded jewelry.  Jewels of Hope is aimed at child-headed households and vulnerable children as prime beneficiaries.  Jewels of Hope reaches out to orphans with the love of Jesus Christ and gives them hope; by discipling each one through the word of God and providng the relational support of mature adults as a reference point and place of accountability.  Jewels of Hope partners with organisations/churches to provide a means of income generation that is safe and legitimate, where the children are able to continue with their education and gradually empowering them with life skills towards a safe and secure long-term future.

The Mission Statement of Jewels of Hope is to mobilize and equip local people to care for the orphans in their community.
