For the children

Map of Africa

Jewels of Hope works with orphans and vulnerable children in three countries, South Africa, Lesotho and, most recently, Zimbabwe.

A Jewels of Hope "Connect Group" consists of 5 children between the ages of 11 - 19 years, assisted by an adult leader who not only acts as their trainer but as a mentor and support through life situations and hardships they face.  The finished jewelry is packed by the children with a card showing their name, photo and story and is then marketed around the world by Jewels of Hope supporters.  The proceeds are used to provide the children with:

  • A basic income to enable them to buy food, shoes, clothes as well as paying school fees
  • Access to discipleship and personal development equipping them with moral values and life skills
  • A good meal once a week
  • Finance to purchase the following term's beads

The mission statement of Jewels of Hope is to mobilize and equip local people to take care of the orphans in their community.

Jewels of Hope income generating model, using beaded jewelry, is currently aimed at child-headed households and vulnerable children as prime beneficiaries.
